Thundarr the Barbarian aired from 1980-1981 on the American Broadcast Company (ABC). It follows the story of Thundarr, princess Ariel, and Ookla the Mok as they travel across a ruined world thousands of years after a comet creates an apocalypse as they right moral wrongs and fight evil wizards.

The Famicom (Family Computer) was released in Japan in 1983. It initially had a limited release in the US in 1985, but had a much more prominent release in 1986 where it became a massive success as the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES).
