Seiko TV Watch
In 1982, Seiko released the TV watch in Japan. The watch would be prominently featured in the Jame Bond flick Octopussy, though in a more technologically advanced version. The core of the tuner was a large device that could be held in a bag or strapped to your belt. The liquid crystal screen was a black and white TV with a 31,920 pixel screen.

Monchhichi
Monchhichis were a toy line of stuffed monkeys from the Sekiguchi Corporation. They were licensed by Mattel, but later were distributed by Sekiguchi when the contract ended. There were five different television shows based on them.

Secret World of Og (1983, ABC Weekend Special)
The Secret World of Og was produced for television and was based on the novel by Pierre Berton. Siblings Penny, Pamela, and Peter set out through a secret trapdoor to find their little brother Paul. There they find a secret underground world where the little green inhabitants speak only one word: “Og.”

ColecoVision
The ColecoVision launched in 1982 and was often paired with the much more popular Cabbage Patch Dolls. It provided a much better, and closer to the arcade experience, for gamers than the Atari 2600 or Intellivision. They even added an expansion to play Atari 2600 games.

Knight Rider (1982-1986)
Knight Rider spins the tale of a man named Michael Knight who teams up with a modified AI Firebird to solve crimes and save lives. It put David Hasselhoff on the map, though Baywatch would make his career explode even bigger in the 90s.

Sony Discman
The Sony Discman was released in 1984, attempting to usher in the portable CD revolution. It worked quite well, though the format would really take off in the late 1980s and early 1990s when it was rebranded to CD Walkman.

Rainbow Brite (1984-1986)
Rainbow Brite started her life as a cartoon by Hallmark from 1984-1986 and was licensed to Mattel for a line of dolls and other merchandise.
