“Girls Just Want to Have Fun” was released in 1983 on Cyndi Lauper’s album She’s So Unusual. It was originally released by its writer Robert Hazard in 1979 from a male perspective. Lauper changed some lyrics to better incorporate a female point of view into the iconic song. Captain Lou Albano played Lauper’s father in the video for the song.
Garbage – “Only Happy when It Rains” (1995)

“Only Happy When it Rains” was released in 1995 by Garbage on their debut self-titled album. While “Queer” was released as the first single internationally, the production company replaced it in the UK with “Only Happy When It Rains.” It was picked up by radio stations and gained popularity much like “Queer” was doing in the rest of the world.
It’s tongue-in-cheek lyrics parodied the typical angst-filled lyrics of the 90s.
