Heavy Metal (1981)

Heavy Metal was an adult cartoon anthology film based on stories from the magazine. Its release was mired in problems over music licensing, so it was rare to find outside of the cinema. Eventually, the rights would be worked out and a sequel would be released in 2000.

Calgone

When you need a break after a horrible day of dealing with kids, stupid co-workers, and road rage, the only true option is to dribble Calgon bubble bath in the tub and say “Calgon, take me away!” You will end up surrounded by a field of flowers in a bubbly bathtub. At least if the commercials were correct.

Michael Jackson (1958-2009)

Michael Jackson started his career with the Jackson 5 but would go solo in the late 1970s. He would explode in popularity becoming one of the most popular artists in the world and renown as the “King of Pop.” Regardless of the allegations around the end of his life, his popularity and inflence in the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s cannot be understated.

Whatchamacallit Candy Bar

Whatchamacallit was first created in 1978, and was a peanut-flavored crunch covered in chocolate. In 1987, the recipe was changed to add a layer of caramel.
