Pieces from 1982 is a chainsaw revving good time. With a heavy-handed nod to the gallo movement, Pieces tries to set up a convincing and shocking storyline, but loses its thread somewhere along the line. But do not judge it for that. When the tagline is “You don’t have to go to Texas for a Chainsaw Massacre,” you know why you’re watching this. And it pays off in spades. The murders are horrifyingly gory and there is a ton of nudity throughout the film. If the director could have had his way, the aerobics scene would have been in the nude as well, but alas the instructor shut him down.
I’m going to take a break in May on Quick Takes to try to get caught up with the rest of what I’m trying to do with the site.
